MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Each day, the juvenile dependency court wrestles with life-altering decisions that deeply affect the future of children and families under its jurisdiction. The court decides whether children can safely remain at home or must be placed in foster care, what contact they will have with their parents and siblings, and how we can best meet their needs with regard to safety, education, physical and mental health, and other issues.

The dedicated attorneys and staff at the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles represent more than 22,000 children in one of the largest foster care systems in the nation and provide a powerful voice in dependency court for young clients. We advocate day-by-day, child-by-child, and case-by-case on behalf of the children we represent. We also learn from our experience with individual clients and use that knowledge to advocate for concrete solutions to problems and for broader system reforms.
